The place

A 19th-century vecindad house in the heart of downtown Mexico City, its facade lovingly restored. Inside, Circulo Mexicano goes the other way — modern, minimal, pared to essentials.

Twenty-five rooms and suites, simple but sophisticated. Local artisanal textiles, custom oak furniture by La Metropolitana, plush king bedding, a rain shower, a private patio or balcony. Some rooms hold the Metropolitan Cathedral in their windows.

On the roof, a pool looks out over the whole city. Beside it, Comedor Mexicano — chef Enid Velez’s take on classic home dishes, lifted by fresh local and seasonal ingredients.
