Experimental Chalet Val d’Isère
The place
A winter sanctuary in the French Alps, opened in early 2025 in the ski village of Val-d’Isère. Dorothée Meilichzon designed the interior with a quirky, retro ski feeling — the spirit of the forest and Savoyard carried through 113 rooms of ski-inspired bedheads, rustic dark wood, and the occasional pop of color.
After a day on the slopes, the 15m heated indoor pool is the point. Then a hammam, a sauna, a cold plunge, the spa.
Two restaurants see to the rest, breakfast to dinner. L’aigle d’or serves brasserie classics with a subtle Alpine touch; L’Aiglon works its way through Savoie’s finest cheeses.
