The place

In Charleston’s French Quarter, at the heart of downtown, the inn keeps to an old-world European register drawn from the neighborhood’s history. The 50 rooms and suites are furnished with custom vintage pieces, fine European linens, and Italian marble bathrooms.

A courtyard terrace waits below; a fitness center with machines and free weights covers the practical side. Breakfast is gourmet, complimentary, and served wherever you like — lobby, courtyard, or your room. There is no formal restaurant, and none is missed: flavored iced tea and snacks through the day, wine and cheese in the afternoon, cookies and milk in the evening.
