The place

A glass building veiled in a black metal screen, designed by Ray Chen + Partners Architects. The interior takes after Goya: gothic and rustic, wooden floors, dark furniture.

Forty-two rooms and suites carry the same mood. Low light, chandelier lamps, vintage furnishing, a bathtub and a writing desk. Some open onto a small balcony or terrace.

On the roof, a quiet pool among greenery, day beds set out for a slow afternoon. Downstairs, L'IDIOT, helmed by Fudy Chen, turns out some of the best steaks in the city, and East End keeps an al-fresco bar under the open sky.
