Hotel Ulysses
The place
Hotel Ulysses reimagines an early 20th-century building in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon. Sister to The Siren and Hotel Peter & Paul, it takes its cues from filmmaker John Waters — a theatrical conversation between historical references, Baroque-style paintings on one wall, African objects on another.
The 116 distinct rooms and suites come in moody shades of blue, red, yellow, or green, set against chic Art-Deco-inspired furnishing. Look closely: custom textiles, hand-beaded lampshades, curated objects and artwork, bathroom tiles glazed by hand in India.
Three bold places to eat and drink. Ash Bar runs all day — cafe, market, and bar, from coffee to light plates. Blooms is a flamboyant cocktail lounge; The Coral Wig, its moodier, low-lit counterpart.
