The place
Seven years of restoration went into the Book Tower, a historic landmark in downtown Detroit, before ROOST Detroit opened its doors. The grand Renaissance-style atrium survives with its original details intact; around it, the rest of the 4-star hotel has been refinished in a clean, modern register.
The 117 apartments are light-filled, from generous studios to spacious two-bedrooms, each with a homey urban simplicity. A fully equipped kitchen, vintage rugs, a SONOS speaker, laundry — everything an extended stay asks for, and nothing showy.
A well-appointed fitness center and a co-working space sit on-site. For meals, Le Supreme plays the Parisian brasserie with a sophisticated menu, while Kamper's, the stylish rooftop bar, opens onto the full sweep of the city skyline.
