Janu Tokyo
The place
Sister to Aman Tokyo, Janu rises in a sleek glass high-rise in Minato City. Jean-Michel Gathy, the group's long-time design partner, worked the interior in golden and neutral tones — opulent, but held in check.
The 122 rooms and suites stay calm: minimalistic furnishing, subtle traditional Japanese gestures, soaking tubs, floor-to-ceiling windows, private balconies.
The wellness space runs to 4,000 square metres — a shimmering 25-metre indoor pool, hydrotherapy facilities, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a spa. Eight culinary concepts sit within the hotel, among them Janu Mercato, keyed to the seasonality of Italian markets, and Iigura, given over to traditional Edomae-style sushi.
