Kizikula

The place

A retreat on the secluded south coast of Zanzibar, made for slowing down. Lush gardens close in around nine rooms, each different, spread across coral limestone structures.

The rooms are rustic and chic at once: bespoke wooden furniture, faded walls, organic textiles, art chosen with care. A twenty-meter pool stretches toward the turquoise Indian Ocean. There is an open-air gym, a yoga deck, terraces to gather on.

The kitchen leans on local and homegrown ingredients. From breakfast through dinner, the restaurant and bar keep a farm-to-table menu, with drinks alongside.
