The place

A restored mid-century motor inn on the Lake Michigan waterfront in Saugatuck. The 30 rooms and suites are freshly modern; a newer cottage adds two bedrooms on each floor for family stays.

At the center, a large heated outdoor pool looks out over the lake. Beyond it, a private beach, a lakeside deck, and two miles of hiking trails. Mornings begin with yoga or a continental breakfast; complimentary bikes and kayaks wait when you want them.

There is no restaurant on-site. Downtown Saugatuck, minutes away, takes care of dinner.
