The place

LOG — Lantern Onomichi Garden — sits on the hillside of Mount Senkoji, inside an apartment complex from 1963. STUDIO MUMBAI revived it in a pale, muted palette, working with artisans from across the globe; the detail is everywhere, and quiet about it.

The six rooms are minimal, soft, and sophisticated, each wrapped meticulously in stretched Japanese paper — a modern reading of traditional design. On the same floor, a library dressed in greens and blues.

Two places to eat. The in-house kitchen cooks an ever-changing, vegetable-focused menu shaped by the seasons; the cafe keeps lighter dishes and original drinks.
