The place

Twenty-five canal houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, joined into one hotel beside the central canal. Jacu Strauss reworked the interiors in 2019, letting historic beams and crystal chandeliers sit alongside colorful, contemporary furniture.

No two of the 225 rooms and suites feel quite alike. The Collector's Suites are the ones to ask about — each drawn from a different Dutch aristocrat, filled with bespoke furniture, antiques and art.

A fitness center runs around the clock. Jansz serves modern Dutch cooking, while the Pulitzer Garden handles drinks and Italian-leaning plates.
