The place
De L'Europe has stood on the Amstel since 1896, its Renaissance facade watching the river go by. A recent renovation left the glamour intact and softened everything around it.
The 107 rooms and suites keep to calm neutrals — classicist furnishing, a touch of velvet, marble bathrooms, Diptyque on the shelf. A handful of newer suites break rank in vivid contemporary color.
There is an indoor pool and a gym that never closes. Of the four places to eat and drink, Flore is the one to know: two Michelin stars, dishes kept deliberately simple.
