The place

Five blush-pink buildings around a landscaped courtyard in Los Frailes, San Miguel de Allende. Architect Ian Pablo Amores drew the color from the colonial facades nearby and let it carry the whole composition.

Inside, the palette turns quiet. Four suites — two standard rooms, two larger duplexes — with sleek wooden furniture, clean lines, and brown-tiled floors. Each has a kitchenette, a workspace, a TV, and a compact private patio.

The courtyard is the heart of it. Greenery everywhere, a plunge pool for the warm hours, loungers and a fire pit for conversation after dark.
