The place

The old Bolhão Soap Factory, remade as a hotel in the center of Porto. Saboaria’s facade is sleek and black; inside, everything softens into neutral hues and contemporary elegance.

The 28 apartment-style rooms hold custom Portuguese furniture and vintage pieces, each with a kitchenette.

At the heart of the building, a courtyard garden with an outdoor pool and jacuzzi. A small spa offers treatments, a steam bath and a relaxation room. The restaurant keeps things laid-back, from fresh breakfasts through Portuguese dishes — and the streets outside are dense with places to eat and drink.
