The place
A 1920s Spanish Colonial building joined to a modern extension in the heart of Santa Monica. Kelly Wearstler shaped the cavernous lobby — earthy, intricate, a mix of eclectic contemporary and vintage pieces.
The 257 rooms and suites keep to a sandy palette: oak floors, Mid-Century European-inspired furnishing, Italian linens, a travertine shower, marble vanities, Aesop by the sink.
On the roof, the pool looks out over the California coastline. Below, a 24-hour gym, a cold plunge, a spa. Calabra serves Californian and Mediterranean cooking upstairs; Palma keeps things casual on the ground floor.
