The place
A 1920s neoclassical residence in Kolonaki, Athens' upscale quarter, kept deliberately quiet. Shila has six suites and no sign of hurry.
Each suite is one of a kind — vintage furnishings, French windows that let the neighbourhood light in, a Bose speaker, an iPad with Netflix. The mix of vintage, contemporary, and bohemian pieces gives the house an intimate, rustic charm.
The communal rooms are worth lingering in. A rooftop garden. A library lounge with its original mosaic floors. There is no restaurant, but breakfast arrives daily, made from local produce, and Kolonaki's dining is a few steps away.
