The place

An old railroad station in the Appalachian Valley, remade as a place to stay in Chattanooga. The romance of the rails remains — some suites sit inside restored Victorian train carriages. Designer Jenny Bukovec dressed the 127 spacious rooms and suites in rich jewel tones and Art Nouveau-inspired furniture, an old-world grandeur carried through.

Outside, an Alpine pool with striped lounge beds for the unhurried hours. A 24-hour gym for the rest. Elsie's Daughter runs the kitchen across parlour and patio — French-Belgian cooking, classic cocktails. Coffee and pastries in the lobby.
