The place

Five buildings around an inner garden terrace in Porto's Bairro do Silva. Bacana Studio designed the interiors to feel warm and lived-in rather than styled — relaxing neutral tones, Scandinavian and Japanese-inspired furnishings, modern amenities.

The 38 apartment-style rooms come with fully equipped kitchens, so meals happen at your own pace. Stock the shelves at Market by BOA, an artisanal boutique carrying local products, or wander out — the neighborhood keeps plenty of good tables and bars.

There is a compact fitness space with machines for when you need it. Otherwise, the garden.
