The place

Forty hectares of gardens and trees at Castro Marim, in the Algarve. Companhia das Culturas took years of restoration and expansion, and it shows in the good way — a countryside farm stay with nothing hurried about it.

The ten accommodations — six rooms, four apartments — are each crafted individually, with whitewashed walls, concrete floors, and eclectic furnishings. The apartments add a kitchenette and a private patio.

Wellness runs deep here: two outdoor pools, a marble hammam, a spa room, a yoga studio lined in cork. Gardens on every side. At the Bistro, the kitchen leans Southern Portuguese, with a Mediterranean flair.
