Marqí
The place
At the foothills of the Sintra Mountains, a whitewashed 1980s mansion sits half hidden. Marqí is the work of its owner, photographer Mikkel Kristensen, with architect and artist Mikas Emi — a house transformed into a tranquil retreat with a heavy dose of retro charm.
Eight rooms and suites, each with its own personality. A soothing white palette, Mid-Century and seventies pieces, the occasional flash of green or red.
The pool is the center of things — serene water, a poolside bar, loungers under lush greenery. Praia Grande waits fifteen minutes downhill on foot; Praia das Maçãs and Praia da Adraga are a few minutes by car.
