Thompson Madrid

The place

On Plaza del Carmen, two historic ivory buildings hold Thompson Madrid. Local studios López y Tena and LYTA drew from the city's traditional architecture — dark wood, black stone floors, plants softening the lines.

The 175 rooms and suites are built from wood, leather, and stone, with brass accents and modern furniture. Floor-to-ceiling windows, a black marble bathroom, D.S. & Durga on the shelf. Some open onto a balcony or terrace.

The rooftop pool looks across the Madrid skyline, lounge beds and greenery around it, a bar within reach. Downstairs, Mendo — restaurant and bakery both — follows the seasons. There is also a fully equipped gym.
